Ties

Ties investigates the tension between societal expectations imposed on women and their internal struggles to reconcile these pressures with a genuine sense of self. I capture scenes that feature symbolic props to illustrate the emotional turmoil women endure under the weight of societal norms. Drawing inspiration from my experiences within Chinese society, this project explores the cycles of self-doubt triggered by external judgment, which often compels women to conform to prescribed roles rather than embrace their authentic identities.
